On Tuesday, July 26th the American Red Cross® will be holding programs at the Bryan Main Library at 11:00 am and 5:30 pm in the Carnegie Room. Volunteers, currently serving in the community, will share their personal experiences on how the Red Cross has enabled them to make a difference and help those in need Attendants will then learn how they can assist in times of disaster in Williams County and throughout the nation. As part of the Williams County Public Library’s Summer Reading Program, “On Your Mark, Get Set…READ!” the YMCA will holding a special program at the Bryan Main Library Children’s Department on Thursday, July 21st at 1:00 pm. YMCA representative Heather Jones will first introduce the Y and talk about the programs and activities offered to the public. Then, let the games begin! Kids will take part in a healthy habits trivia session, soccer hot potato, and Simon says boot camp.
Join us in Bookends used book store on Wednesday July 13 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and meet author Debrah Strait. Debrah began her storytelling career during a rural Ohio childhood, making up tales to put herself to sleep at night, to keep herself awake at school, and to make cleaning horse stalls go faster.
Thursday, July 14th is Paleontology Day at the children’s department of the Bryan Main Library. Kids of all ages are invited to join Paleontologist Jess from 6:00 to 8:00 pm for an evening of fossils and fun! Jess and her friends have planned prehistoric activities including Make Your Own Fossil, Fun with (life size) Fossil Footprints, and even a re-creation of a real Dino Dig! There will drawings for prizes, goodie bags with your own safari hat and shovel, and plenty of fun to be had, so bring your hiking boots for a prehistoric party!
