The Stryker Library will be offering an advanced crochet class taught by Jackie Briskey. If you know how to single and double crochet, but need help with learning new stitches, this class is for you. Increase, decrease, crocheting circles, granny squares, and reading patterns are all topics that will be covered. Class dates are listed below.

Local Stryker author Bobbi Schlosser who wrote and illustrated the children’s book Pilgrim will be holding a book signing at the Stryker Branch Library on Monday, July 29th from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. At 6:00 pm she will be reading her book to those in attendance. She will have copies of her book available for purchase at the signing.
Pilgrim is also available through Amazon.com. According to the Amazon website, “Bobbi is a training specialist at a facility for the disabled and operates the Art Department there. She is an accomplished artist in her area and has won numerous awards and is the past president of the Black Swamp Art Guild. She has seven grandchildren, and she and her husband, Dave, along with Pilgrim and Lucy, live in a cottage by the creek that you see in the book. She hopes that her message of caring extends to all that read Pilgrim.”
Kids, come join us for a fun after school movie as we continue to celebrate Right to Read Week. We will be showing Koala Kid on Thursday, May 16 at 3:15 pm. The movie is rated PG and lasts 83 minutes. For more details, please call Connie Aeschliman at 419-682-5081
On Monday, May 6, a Princess Party is planned at the Stryker Branch Library from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm for kids in preschool through the 4th grade. There will be a limit of 24 participants, and children must be registered to attend. Wear your princess dress and come for games, crafts, princess food, and a princess style show!

The Over Readers Anonymous Book Club at the Stryker Branch Library will be discussing the book Still Alice by Lisa Genova on March 25 at 6:00 pm. This book deals with the subject of Alzheimer’s disease. In addition to the regular book discussion, they have invited Lynn Riter from the Alzheimer’s Association in Toledo as a special guest speaker to the meeting to talk about Alzheimer’s disease, how the disease affects someone who has it, and how those who are caretakers of someone with the disease are affected.

Stryker Branch Library will be holding a back room book sale from Monday, March 25th through Friday, March 29th, during regular library business hours, and everyone is invited. We will be selling books, children’s books, CDs, DVDs, videos, audio books, and magazines. Books will be sold for a freewill donation. Come browse through the wide variety. There is sure to be something to please all.
