The West Unity Library invites you to “Tea Time with Downton Abbey” on Thursday, December 12th from 6:00-9:00 pm. Enjoy a night of watching the popular British TV series, Downton Abbey which follows the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants in the early 1900’s. This Golden Globe winning series has become one of the most watched shows currently on television. The library will play selected episodes to prepare you for the season 4 premiere in January. Come dressed in period clothing if you like and enjoy English tea and treats such as scones, cucumber sandwiches, short bread, and sticky toffee pudding.

Join us on Saturday, December 7th from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. after the parade and get your picture taken with Santa! Kids can make a Christmas craft, decorate a gingerbread cookie, and receive a special treat. This program is in partnership with the West Unity Chamber of Commerce and is free to children. Local author Bobbi Schlosser has written and illustrated the book, Pilgrim and will be holding a book reading at the West Unity Library on Tuesday, November 5th at 6:00 pm. The book accounts the true Thanksgiving rescue of Mrs. Schlosser’s cat Pilgrim, who will also be visiting the library.
According to the author’s biography, “Bobbi is a training specialist at a facility for the disabled and operates the Art Department there. She is an accomplished artist and has won numerous awards and is the past president of the Black Swamp Art Guild. She has seven grandchildren, and she and her husband, Dave, along with Pilgrim and Lucy, live in a cottage by the creek that you see in the book. She hopes that her message of caring extends to all that read Pilgrim.”
The Tour de Book Bicycling Event is once again returning to Williams County. Sponsored by United Way of Williams County in conjunction with Williams County Public Library and Montpelier Public Library the Tour de Book Bicycling Event will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013. This will be a 77 mile bicycle ride beginning at Bryan Library and traveling to every public library in Williams County. Registration begins at 8:00 am at the Bryan Main Library and the tour starts at 8:30 am. Larry and Lilly, the Library Lions, will lead the bikers to the outskirts of Bryan as a special send off on the tour. Libraries on the route will include: Bryan, Stryker, West Unity, Pioneer, Montpelier, Edon, and Edgerton. Riders can also ride from Bryan to Montpelier, or Montpelier to Bryan, which is the length of 10.5 miles one way, or 21 miles round trip. This ride will start at 11:00 am. Funds raised by this event will benefit the United Way Imagination Library, Williams County Public Libraries, and the Montpelier Public Library.
Author Ann Charles will be appearing at West Unity library on August 5th at 6 pm. She will be promoting her new book "Better off Dead in Deadwood". There will be a book signing and refreshments. The public is invited to come and meet the author and learn more about her books and the craft of writing.
